Artofhip-hop.com was launched in 2000 as an online destination for hop-hop enthusiast seeking more than celebrity gossip and music reviews.
As the founder and editor, my objective was to explore hip-hop’s storytelling art form. I managed a small team of young writers from Northwestern University, the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago State and surrounding colleges who critiqued song lyrics and covered independent artists, urban politics, and culture for the site. The website suspended publishing in 2004.
